Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)

BRAC—it's a word being spoken across military and contractor installations all around the country today. Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) is the formal process by which the Department of Defense (DoD) examines and reorganizes its infrastructure to more efficiently support its forces, increase operational readiness, and facilitate new ways of doing business (www.defenselink.mil/brac/).

As a result of the BRAC 2005 decision, a vast number of organizations, communities, and individuals served by SURVICE will be dramatically affected. We understand the significant impact—through both loses and gains—that BRAC will have on many people and organizations throughout the next decade and beyond. In fact, even before the 2005 BRAC decisions were made, our regional offices were involved in their local community organizations to prepare for a variety of possible outcomes. As a result, SURVICE is well-positioned today to help in the many transitions that are now occurring—or will soon occur—as the BRAC decisions are implemented across the country. Our goal is to leverage the long-term benefits of BRAC while minimizing any near-term negative effects it may have on the U.S. Military and our customers, corporate partners, and employees.
