Participation Waiver and Release of Liability
READ BEFORE SIGNING
In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the 2025-2026 Vertical Flight Society Design-Build-Vertical Flight Competition (the “Event”), related events and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that:

- There are risks of injury from the activities involved in this competition, including but not limited to the potential for serious injury or death if involved in a collision with an unmanned aerial vehicle, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce these risks, the risks of serious injury do exist; and,
- I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and,
- I willingly agree to comply with the stated rules and safety warnings for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest person in charge of the event immediately; and,
- I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS The SURVICE Engineering Company, LLC, their officers, officials, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the Event (“RELEASEES”), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, ILLNESS, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law; and
- I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS, DEFEND, AND INDEMNIFY EACH OF THE RELEASEES FROM ANY LOSS, LIABILITY, CLAIM, DAMAGE, JUDGMENT, LEGAL FEES, OR COSTS ARISING FROM OR INCURRED DUE TO MY PARTICIPATION IN OR OTHERWISE IN CONNECTION WITH THE EVENT, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Video/Photography Release Form
I hereby grant The SURVICE Engineering Company, LLC (“Company”) the irrevocable right and permission to use my likeness in any photograph, video, or other digital media taken, in all their publications, including print or web-based publications, without compensation to me. I agree that all such portraits, pictures, photographs, video and audio recordings, and any reproductions thereof, and all plates, negatives, recording tape and digital files, are and shall remain the sole property of Company.
I understand and agree that such photographs and/or video recordings of me may be placed on the Internet. I also understand and agree that I may be identified by name and/or title in printed, Internet or broadcast information that might accompany the photographs and/or video recordings of me. I understand and agree that I will not have an opportunity to review the final products before they are published or distributed.
I hereby release, acquit and forever discharge Company, and its current and former trustees, agents, officers, employees, and affiliates, from any and all claims, demands, rights, promises, damages and liabilities arising out of or in connection with the use or distribution of said photographs and/or video recordings, including but not limited to any claims for invasion of privacy, appropriation of likeness, or defamation.
I acknowledge that my participation is completely voluntary, as is my consent to this release. I understand that no action will be taken against me should I decline to participate in the photo/video portions of these events. This release is binding on me and my heirs, assigns and personal representatives.
