Presentation at the DEPS/ITEA Joint Conference

Dr. Kyle Brady from our Dayton Area Operation presented a briefing at the DEPS/ITEA Joint Conference on T&E Support to Prototyping and Experimentation this past week. Kyle’s paper provided an update of our MSAS (Modeling and Simulation for Aircraft Survivability) project, which is a joint industry and government effort developing code models to support the testing and evaluation of high-energy laser damage effects on aircraft and weapons. The presentation summarized the program’s test series covering material penetration, fire ignition and sustainment, component damage, and energetic material response. In addition, a selection of material penetration data derived from this effort was presented, and preliminary findings and analysis were discussed.
