SURVICE Supports USMC Wet-Gap Bridging Operations Training in North Carolina

From 23-27 January 2017, SURVICE Engineering employee, Mr. Ted Helm, supported Marine Corps Combat Engineers from the 8th Engineer Support Battalion in the conduct of wet-gap bridging operations on New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina. During this operation, junior Non- Commissioned Officers (NCOs) were trained in the techniques of moving a 7-bay raft loaded with two M1A1 Abrams tanks across an open inland waterway and into tight channels using two bridge erection boats for steering and propulsion. This was the first-ever class of its kind conducted on New River and consisted of 4-5 students per raft section. Each group of students accumulated eight hours of training experience during the operation.
